New Vintage Patterns at Sew-Retro

I'm in the middle of a new listing frenzy and thought I would show off just a few of the new vintage patterns that are on their way to Sew-Retro.
This late 40's dress and "redingote" riding look coat pattern.
A 40's "apron" pinafore dress, this is really so cute.
I just love this early 50's vintage dress pattern, very soft and flattering.
And a lovely late 20's flapper look dropped waist dress pattern.

Patterns I Like Today

Jen, over at Moms Patterns has this great wrap dress vintage pattern:
Quick & easy wrap around dress. A; Wrap dress with contrast bodice, short sleeve cuffs, patch pockets on skirt. B: Dress with contrast collar and cuffs. C: Contrast cummerbund. D: Collarless view in border print! A girl's gotta have this one!
I think there is nothing better then a versatile design like this. Some dress just are a "day dress" or a "cocktail dress", but this easy design can be whatever you want just from your choice of fabric and trim. I think I especially like it with the bodice and skirt in two different colors or with the large cummerbund.

Coming Soon to Sew-Retro

Here are a few of the vintage patterns I am in the process of listing this week:

This late 20's mail order pattern is my favorite.

This halter dress pattern makes me think of Grace Kelly.

Another sundress and a great mod coat dress Vogue pattern.

Patterns I like Today

I have always loved this pattern and right now it is listed on eBay by Rita at Chez Cemetarian
The "Walk-Away Dress".
(and I know you can get this in a re-issue from Butterick, but really, why? when you can own the original)
To me it is one of those perfect designs that can be a house dress or dinner dress and anything in between just with your choice of fabric and trim.

From Rita's listing:
During the 1950's, Butterick experienced a phenomenon it had not known since the 'Garibaldi Suit' of the late 1860's. It was pattern 6015, and it was dubbed the 'walk-away' dress, because it was so easy you could "Start it after breakfast... walk-away in it for luncheon!". It's simple yet flattering wrap design and easy construction were what made it so popular. Sales of the pattern were so great, that at one point manufacturing of all other patterns ceased, and only the 'walk-away' dress was produced until all back-orders for this dress could be filled.

What I Like Today

I think I'll keep with the 40's vibe and point you in the direction of Miss Helene's Vintage Sewing Shopee where I found these 2 great vintage patterns.
Why do I like them?
40's? check
Noir? check
Sexy, but covered? check

Vintage Patterns Just Listed

Ok, actually the vintage sewing patterns are in the "coming soon" category over at Sew-Retro Vintage Patterns.
I really love the 2 Vogue Special Design suit patterns. A chic and sexy Noir suit and a more sporty one ala Claire McCardell.

This one is just a great 40's look.
A couple of vintage patterns in larger sizes...and can I pass on my love of the vintage shirtwaist dress? Depending on the fabric is can be worn as a house dress, day dress to run errands in or a easy to wear dinner dress. Always perfect for whatever the occasion.
Stop by and take a look at all the vintage patterns listed at Sew-Retro Vintage Patterns and don't forget to spend a bit of time with the other sellers I share the Pattern and Sewing Mall with.

What I Like Today

I was doing my regular stylefeed and went over to Mom's Patterns.
Jen always has tons of great vintage patterns, but I fell in love with these two.
Pretty 40's vintage dress pattern with puff sleeves, square neckline and flared skirt and this 40's pattern for a button front frock....which I think looks very close to a 30's dress pattern.

Cute vintage sewing themed apron, a sewing basket (needs a bit of work) like the one my grandmother had and a cute strawberry table cloth that I've put along the back of my kitchen (yes kitchen) sofa.

New Purse!

Got a new purse in the mail today and thought I would post a pic of it since it is constructed of vintage barkcloth.
Stephanie over at Pretty Baby Vintage has opened a new shop called PVB Handmade Goods over on Main Street Mall Online.

P.B.V. Handmade Goods is the sister store of Pretty Baby Vintage. Here, we offer a line of cute, original clothing and accessories that are reconstructed/deconstructed or reworked from other vintage pieces. We also make vintage reproduction apparel and accessories, specializing in the 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s. We sew each creation ourselves on vintage Singer sewing machines and use a combination of vintage (or vintage inspired) patterns, fabrics and notions. We do use modern thread and zippers for strength and durability in our creations, though.

I love my new purse.
Nice and roomy, very well made, 2 HUGE interior pockets and a lovely pastel tropical print vintage barkcloth body.
What more could you want.

You can have one too.
Just stop buy PBV Handmade Goods and buy one.
New Blog

Yep, another blog from me The Vintage Goddess.

There will be lots of eyecandy.
I promise.
This vintage pattern is one of those "why has this not sold" favorites of mine. Pretty 30's frock, lovely pattern.
